Research Skills

I have completed a doctorate degree in psychology which comprised of a strong research component. I have presented at numerous national and international conferences, which has further honed my research, analytical, presentation, and networking skills. Furthermore, I have also published my work in high-impact journals and liaised with key stakeholders for research collaboration which has polished my communication, writing, and social skills.

Teaching Skills

I have developed effective, innovative, and engaging teaching style through my role as an academic at Victoria University, Monash University, and Federation University. I attempt to create an engaging, passionate, and thought-provoking environment that is conducive for optimal learning where students can develop the skills of in-depth understanding, critical analysis, synthesis, and integration of information. I believe in facilitating and encouraging students to engage in discourse wherein they are able to assess the merit of their analyses.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

In academia, I have effectively and successfully communicated and collaborated with students and staff to achieve required outcomes. Moreover, as an Executive Committee Member of Asian South-Pacific Association of Sport Psychology (ASPASP) and Research Director of DR ACADEMY, I have diligently worked with various internal and external stakeholders, which required a very high level of communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

Administrative Skills

I have proficient experience in a range of administrative functions. For instance, I possess expert skills in academic administrative duties (e.g., subject coordination, exam preparation, and departmental activities); e-health, client, and practice management systems (e.g. FrontDesk and HealthKit); word and presentation applications (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, and Keynote); web designing tools (e.g., WordPress); operating platforms (e.g., Microsoft, Apple, and Google); statistical packages (e.g., SPSS and AMOS); and data collection tools (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, and Google Forms).

Leadership and Management Skills

Through my experience in academia and industry, I have developed a transformative leadership and management style. My experience as the Director of DR ACADEMY and Officer-in-Charge of Defence Capability and Operational Support team in the Australian Defence Force has helped me manage crucial projects and taskings, thereby developing me as a mature leader. INTERESTS

Reading provides me with an avenue to experience intellectual stimulation and helps fuel my imagination. It also helps improve concentration and expression skills. My reading interests range from psychology to existentialism, and neuroscience to behavioural economics. Some of the books I read and re-read in the past year include Thoughts without a thinker: Psychotherapy from a Buddhist perspective by Mark Epstein, Thinking fast and slow by Daniel Kahneman, The consolations of philosophy by Alain De Botton, and Wherever you go, there you are by Jon Kabat-Zinn. I am currently reading Modern man in search of a soul by Carl Jung.

Communication Arts, both in physical (i.e., visual arts such as canvas painting, woodwork, photography, and filmmaking) and virtual (i.e., web designing and online portfolio) environments, provide me with the scope to spend my leisure time in creative pursuits. It also helps me unwind and practice mindfulness.

Travelling allows me the opportunity to experience new horizons and gain perspective. I believe travelling is a great way to explore new cultures and expand our awareness. It also helps develop strong interpersonal, financial, and organisational skills.

Sport helps me maintain a sound mind-body balance. Engaging in regular sport and exercise (e.g., cricket, soccer, running, and yoga) not only improves strength and flexibility, but also helps foster social, moral, and leadership skills. I have represented various sports throughout my life and been actively involved with various clubs and associations.

Pro bono work helps me carry out my sense of personal and professional responsibility and obligation that I owe as a social member of the community. It also provides an avenue to perform meaningful and immediate work that I have often found to be an extremely rewarding and learning experience.
